The Ripple Effect A man was reprimanded at work for being late coming back from his lunch break. All afternoon it was eating him up inside, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he got. When work was over he headed home. Normally, this is the time to put work out of your mind, and to begin to foster love and family, back into your head. We have all heard you shouldn't bring work home. Anyway, he starts to pull into the driveway, and has to hit the brakes hard. His childrens toys, were in the way. He flung the door open and got out, and then threw the toys aside, and finally parked the car. Upon entering the house, his bride came to give him a hug, but he pushed her away snapping at her. His just couldn't let it go. His wife, feeling hurt, went to the bathroom to cry. On the way, she tripped on her daughters sneaker, that was left on the floor in the hallway. She immediately began yelling at her daughter for leaving it there. "I almost fell because of you", she screamed. A little while later, the girls brother came into her room looking for something. "Get out Paul you jerk"! "What did I do he replied bewildered". "Just get out". He walked down stairs and there was good old Spot wagging his tail. Paul was now angry too. He gave the dog a swift unexpected kick, and went next door to his friends house. Spot ran out into the front yard whimpering. Just then the mailman was strolling up the walkway with the mail. Spot ran to him as usual, but this time instead of wagging his tail looking to be pet, he bit the mailman and ran away. The mailman yelped in fear and pain, and the dad heard him and came outside to see what was the matter. The mailman was quite upset, and carried on something fierce. "Your stupid dog just bit my leg". "What did you do to him" asked dad? The two argued, and then the mailman left cursing. He got into his mail truck, and pulled out fast and angry into the road, causing an oncoming car to swerve around him, and side swipe a tree. The lady was alright, but the passenger doors on her car were a wreck. She got out and started yelling at the mailman. "What the hell is wrong with you"? "Look lady, I don't need your lip, I get enough of that at home". "You should watch where you're going", he sneered at her, as he got into his truck and sped off toward home. The lady also then sped away headed to her home. Now, think about how many more they will infect. Sometimes our actions and reactions can snowball and the ripple effect just keeps going. Maybe if dad just accepted the fact that "He", made a mistake, life for him and the rest of us, would have been a lot better. Now with that story in mind, no matter what happens in your life this coming week, stop, regroup, accept, and change your reactions to be loving and kind. Let's create a positive snowball that will benefit everyone. "Yes sir you're right. I will try my best not to be late again". End of story.
