THE HUNT FOR CHRISTMAS 'Twas the night before Christmas, no food in our house, i grabbed hold of my rifle, gave a kiss to my spouse. I said with some luck, i'll be home with some grub, she smiled and said with God's help and His love. On with my coat, and boots off the floor, in a quick dash, i slipped out the door. I got in the car and drove bout a mile, on the edge was a deer, and i started to smile. Jammed the car into park and sneaked into the woods, in search of our dinner, if only i could. Stepping so quiet avoiding the leaves, to the small clearing, below all the trees. When i got there i saw down low by a tree, a buck and a doe, and a fawn there were three. When i looked through my scope my eyes couldn't believe, not a deer but a family, on Christmas eve. Mother and father, a small baby boy, a light so so bright, and so full of joy. The woman a queen, looked into my eyes, her message was clear, wow what a surprise. My eyes started tearing and my heart filled so fast, i left the woods food less, the deer got a pass . I drove toward our home and the closer i got, the lights were so bright, like in the woods on that spot. What i saw was a mansion, not our small wooden shack, my wife in the doorway , bright light at her back. We have visitors for dinner, she said with a smile, a mother and father and their newborn boy child. The cupboards are packed, and the woodshed is to, lets visit the child, for his story is true. He's given us everything, our hearts can desire, come now dear husband, and sit by the fire. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL May the true meaning of Christmas fill all hearts. MW
