The Adventure's of Mya and Jordan The Adventure at the Zoo part two
The kids were sliding down a dark tube like tunnel. It was a sliding board roller coaster. Up and down and all around. Twisting and turning, the children screamed into the darkness as they plummeted downward. Finally, the tube reached the bottom of the hole. Jordan was the first to slide out. Followed by Max, Mya, and Ayla. It was pitch black and they couldn't see anything. Ok said Jordan, everyone calm down. Stop the screaming and crying. We are all ok. We need to find a way out of here. But how? asked Mya still whimpering a bit, It’s too dark. Everyone be quiet said Jordan, maybe we can hear something from the zoo. The children all were quiet and even held their breath so they could hear better. Ayla heard a noise. Did ya hear it, did ya here it asked Ayla all excited? Suddenly the noise was louder and they all heard it. It was a low moaning sound. It sounds like a monster said Max. Don't be silly Max, said Mya, there is no such thing as monsters. Yea said Max, then what is it huh? Again they heard the sound. It sounds like a hurt animal or person, said Jordan. Yes, that is what it sounds like said Mya. It's a monster said Max again. Let's follow the sound said Jordan, maybe we can find a way out. Everyone put your right hand on the shoulder in front of you. I'll lead the way said Jordan. Ayla put her hand on Jordan’s shoulder, Mya put her hand on Ayla's, and Max put his hand on Mya's. Jordan used his left hand to touch the side of the tunnel wall. As they walked, he could feel the wall and keep them from hitting into anything. The closer they got to the sound, the more frightened they became. Jordan stoically continued to move forward in the darkness, leading his sister and cousins, hoping to find a way out of this place. The walls were wet and slimy. The air in the tunnel was warm but smelled like dirty diapers and old wet newspaper. Musty and dank. Jordan noticed his arm was stretched out all the way from the wall. The tunnel seemed to be turning to the left. Then the wall was gone. Jordan stopped and looked to his left to try and see where the wall went. His hand felt the end of the wall and he felt that it was a corner. The tunnel turns left, said Jordan. He turned and began to walk again his hand firmly sliding in the slime. Up ahead said Jordan. I see light. Yes, it is light said Ayla. Mya and Max sighed with relieve. Maybe this was a way out. The moaning sound had stopped and the tunnel was now much more visible. Light was coming in from small cracks in the ceiling and walls. They took their hands off each other’s shoulders, as they could all see well enough to walk safely. Suddenly Jordan smiled. What Jordan, asked Mya? Yea, why are you smiling asked Ayla? Max could care less about Jordan smiling. There was no monster, and that made Max very happy. I, said Jordan proudly, have the map the lady gave us, when we came into the zoo. I put it in my pocket. Maybe this tunnel is on it. Jordan reached into his pocket and pulled out the map. After unfolding it, he searched for the tunnel. It's not on here said Jordan. Then as he began to fold the map back up, he noticed a small section of the map said history. He began to read. Well said Max? Yes, what does it say asked Ayla? It says wait a minute until I read it said Jordan. Mya looked at her big brother and smiled. Yup, that's my Jordan. After a minute or so Jordan said, bad news, there is nothing about the tunnel written here. But said Jordan, I see on the map, the path we were on makes a sharp left turn, right near where we had lunch. So if the tunnels follow the paths on the map, we can follow them down here and find the way out. The children began walking again. Max, Ayla, and Mya, were much more relaxed now. There was some light, and some hope. And they had a great person leading them. Jordan to, was feeling a bit more at ease. His idea of the tunnels following the paths, was a good one. Following the map, the children continued through the tunnel. The cracks in the ceiling were now gone but still every little while there was just a hint of light shining through. Look said Mya, stairs. On the side of the tunnel were black metal bars going from the floor upwards into the darkness. Jordan climbed the stair like metal bars. When he reached the top, there was an old wooden door. He heard noises above the door. He listened very intently. Jordan was hearing people outside in the zoo. It's a wooden door and I can hear people outside Jordan yelled down. Mya, Ayla, and Max, hugged each other in joy. We are saved, sang out Ayla. Max just looked up trying to see Jordan. Jordan tried to push the door open. It was too heavy, although he did move it a tiny bit. Jordan thought for a moment. Maybe if we all climb up and push. No, that won't work he though, there is only room enough for me. I'm going to try and call for help said Jordan. Yell as loud as you can encouraged Ayla. Yes, said Mya, very very loud. HELP, HELP us. We are in here. All of a sudden there was a loud thumping noise on the other side of the door. HELP, HELP yelled Jordan again. The thumping turned into a real hard scratching sound. Kind of like pop pops dog sparky on the chicken coup door, only a hundred times stronger and louder. And then it came. ROOOAAARRR! Jordan’s heart sank. He knew that sound. BANG, SCRATCH, RROOOAAARRRRRR! It was a door to the lions’ cage. Jordan scrambled back down the stairs. The big cat was ripping at the wooden door fast and hard with his huge razor like claws. RUN! RUN! yelled Jordan. RUN! End part two. Come visit often and look for part 3.
