Holding my grandson in the store one night, he decided to drop a load in his diaper. I don't know what this kid is eating but let's just say it was really healthy. My eyes were watering and my nose hairs shriveling, and people were looking at me. I'm standing there thinking what are you looking at me for, it ain't me it's the kid. So almost choking now, I decided to put him down to walk on his own and give my lungs a break, and to keep the other folks from thinking it was me, when I had an epiphany. It was as if a light bulb went on in my brain. I held him up high and spun around letting him fly in a circle and then hugged him as tight as ever. I whispered in his ear, good job kid, get those poopies out. I held him tight the rest of the way through the store. Pop pop loves you I told him, and I will always be there for you no matter what happens. That was almost twenty years ago. The other day my grandson came for a visit. I needed a few things from the market and he offered to drive me, as I can not see that well any more. We walked side by side through the store. He said I should be in the electric old folks cart, like he was in the basket when he was small. I smiled to myself. Imagine that, he remembered being in the basket all those years ago. I told him I was fine to walk and so we did. When we were finished shopping and nearing the checkout, I had an accident. I thought I had gas, but it was a full blown run of diarrhea, and man did it stink. My grandson disappeared fast and there were people looking at me with the look of disgust on their faces. I put my head down so embarrassed, when suddenly my grandson says here ya go pops, hop in. I sat in the electric cart and he whisked me away and into the bathroom. He cleaned me up good as new and told me to drive to the exit and wait for him there. I did as he said and waited outside by the door. A few minutes later, he came out holding my groceries. As we proceeded to his car, I felt more loved, than I had ever felt before in my entire lifetime. After the groceries were put away, he got me into the shower, and a clean set of clothes. Then he hugged me and said goodbye. I hugged him back ever so tight, and said I love you. He looked at me with a smile and said yes I know, you always have. I love you too. He winked and hopped into his car and left. When I went into the kitchen, on the counter was a package of adult diapers, with a short note. It read, "Pop's, don't be embarrassed by wearing a diaper, as long as you are on this Earth, I will be here for you no matter what happens. Love you lots!
