The Adventures of Mya and Jordan. Playdate at Pop pop's part two.
Stop Jordan, yelled Jay from the car window. There is a bear on the side of the house. Mya stopped dead in her tracks, turned and ran right back in the house. Jordan was already halfway to the car so he kept going. Aunt Jenn grabbed up Jordan and pulled him into the car. Pop pop!, screamed Mya, there is a bear outside, he is gonna eat Jordan. Pop pop laughed and hurried to the door. He saw Jordan safe in the car and began to walk slow and carefully to the side of the house nearest the woods. As he rounded the corner he saw a big black mother bear and her two young cubs. The cubs were very small and couldn't have been more than a month old. The mother bear looked at pop pop and slowly walked toward the front of the house with her babies following behind. Pop pop backed up and said quietly, every one stay where you are, and watch. As they all looked on eagerly, the momma bear and her cubs walked right out in front where everyone could see them. The cubs were jumping on each other playing and couldn't care less about anyone watching them. Awe they are so cute said Lilly, I want to pet them. Me too, Me too, me too, AND ME TOO, yelled Mya out of the house window. Pop pop just smiled. The bears ever so slowly walked out of the yard and turned up toward the woods. After a short time they were gone. Ok every one, said pop pop. It is safe to come out now. Pop pop explained to the children that the mother bear is very protective of her babies, and if she feels threatened in any way, she will attack to save them. Well enough about the bears said pop pop. Everyone come give me big hugs. Hey Jordan said Jay, what are we gonna do today? I'm not sure said Jordan, let's see what Mya, Lilly and Christian want to do. The kids all talked for a while and decided to ask to go to the pond and feed the ducks and play. The pond was just down the street, and behind the pond was all woods. Pop pop, said Mya. Mya was always the one to ask Pop pop to do stuff. He could never say no to her. Can we all go feed the ducks today? Hhhmmmm said pop pop. I think we could do that. Mya looked up at pop with her big brown eyes and a smile from ear to ear, we would like permission to go by ourselves. We will be good, we promise. Pop pop thought for a moment. He thought about the bears and direction which they traveled off. Ok kids said pop pop. The bears went the other direction from the pond so I think it would be ok to lets you all go together. Remember the buddy system. Everyone stays together. You are always safer in a group, rather than being alone. The children all agreed to stay together. Grandma looked at pop pop. Amanda is going to be mad at you for letting them go alone. They're not alone said pop pop, they have each other. They will be fine. I remember playing all over town when I was a kid. We'll see said grandma. Finally the children reached the pond. Grandma had given the girls some old stale crackers and bread to feed the ducks with. As soon as the ducks saw the bread bag, they began to waddle toward the kids. Me first, said Jordan, no me said Jay. Lilly, said Mya, boys have no manners. Girls go first, said Lilly. Chistian being the youngest was quiet. He was smart. Jay pulled the bag away and ran toward the pond. The ducks and the kids all chased after him. As he reached the edge of the water he tripped, and went head first into the pond. Ha ha said Mya, that's what you get. Yea, said Lilly. Christian and Jordan were just standing there laughing very hard. That was the funniest thing I ever saw, said Jordan. The water is warm said Jay, we can all go swimming. We did not ask about swimming said Mya with a worried look on her face. Pop pop will not be happy. It is dangerous. But we are all together, and that is what pop pop said argued Jay. Jordan was in the water in the blink of an eye. Jay is right he said. As long as we are all together we are safe. The girls and Christian sat down on the grass and just watched the boys swim. All of a sudden, they heard a big splash at the wooded end of the pond. They could not see anything back there. Then another big splash. Mya stood up to see if she could see anything. But the woods were very thick. She did see that the water was starting to bubble like water in a pot on the stove. The bubbling was spreading across the water toward Jay and Jordan. Jordan, screamed Mya, Get out, get out now. Get out Jay, yelled Lilly. Just then, end part two. :)
