May you fly free! 1926 - 2019 And as her eyes closed for the last time, a new inner sight opened. She could see everything. It was like standing on the highest mountain top. Nothing would ever impede her view again. She saw new life. A new beginning. It was more beautiful and vibrant, than anything she had ever seen in her entire lifetime here on earth.
Suddenly, she realized that she had not even moved from her bed. A feeling of complete, and utter freedom overcame her. There was nothing to keep her down or hold her back. It was amazing. Peace, beyond all reason was hers. She lifted her head, and saw some of her loved ones by the bed crying. It is alright she told them, but they could not hear her. She then sat up, and held each one of her family members firmly. They did not realize, that she was still there with them.
Wings began to emerge from deep within her. Her hands and arms, slowly withered and disappeared. Her new wings were as white as the driven snow, and ran the entire length of her body. From this day forward her hugs would be complete. They would totally encompass each of those she held. One last time, she hugged each of her loved ones who were at her side. Her huge bright wings covering and protecting them forever.
Mary, she heard a voice call, I'm here. She spread her wings wide for the first time ever, and began to fly. The ceiling opened like magic, as she rose from the bed and up into the air. As she looked down, she saw her cocoon, now an empty shell, lying on the bed, and her family gathered there, so saddened by her having left them. With a flap of her wings she flew high into the sky. She made one last visit to each and everyone of her loved ones, wherever they were, wrapping her wings around them for comfort, and bidding a final farewell.
Again she heard the voice call. Mary I am here. She knew her family would be alright, and floated toward the beautiful sound of the voice. She flew higher and higher, and as she did, everything became brighter and brighter. Where are you, Mary asked? Here, said the voice. With another strong flap of her wings, she pushed even higher. Her mind expanded to an immeasurable size. She could see and understand everything.
As she continued upward, other angels began flying near her. Hi Mary they said. She was overcome with the most awesome and powerful love you could ever imagine. Mary was still with her loved ones, but it was those who had gone on home before her. She could still see and feel her family on earth. It was as if she was everywhere.
Another angel approached Mary. He looked deeply into her loving eye's and said, they will all be fine, welcome home, I've been waiting for you. He lifted his wing and gently put it around her, and together they flew. May you find peace and comfort this day, knowing, that one day, you too, shall grow wings and fly. Godspeed! This writing is dedicated to my Aunt May, who flew the night of February 6th, 2019. She is the last one of a generation. May her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, remember her always. Peace!
